An app that improves passenger experience for all was a winner for Briteyellow at the first ever virtual demo day held by the Transport for Wales innovation lab.
The 12-week programme engaged tech entrepreneurs working with a team of innovation experts to develop solutions capable of improving the Welsh rail customer experience.
We were a perfect fit for the accelerator programme because of Briteyellow’s expertise in creating apps and sensors for journey planning, navigation and monitoring to help operators enhance customer experience and improve business efficiency.
And we were among the pathfinders in the programme which saw eight tech start-ups working with the team from Alt Labs, the innovation partners of KeolisAmey and Transport for Wales Rail.
There was much cross-pollination during the mutually supportive Wales Lab programme, with the entrepreneurs forming potentially exciting cells of collaboration.
Smart spaces software and technology experts at Briteyellow produced an app that improves passenger experience for all.
It is designed to help customers navigate Transport for Wales stations using real-time information about potential crowds and facilities within the station.
Including visual, voice and haptic guides to check accessibility points and guide customers around the station, the app also has the exciting capability of a virtual tour and is able to identify a passenger assist request.
The winners of the programme were announced at the exciting conclusion of the invigorating first ever virtual Demo Day at the end of June
Winning start-ups have progressed into commercial discussions with Transport for Wales Rail following the programme.
Fredi Nonyelu, the chief executive of Briteyellow, said the Transport for Wales Accelerator programme was brilliant for the company.
“It helped us accelerate our product market fit by engaging Transport for Wales staff and customers to validate our proposition,” he said.
