In just twelve months since its grand opening on 30 June 2024, the Cardiff Bus Interchange has welcomed over two million passengers—a powerful testament to the city’s commitment to seamless, sustainable travel.

Strategically located in the heart of Cardiff, adjacent to the Central railway station, the interchange now serves between 8,000 and 9,000 passengers daily, with 58 bus services an hour operating from its bays. Following the addition of 14 new routes in September 2024, weekly services have nearly doubled—from 1,830 to an impressive 3,476.

But this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about reimagining the passenger experience.

With features like real-time departure screens, tactile flooring, accessibility maps, and a Changing Places facility, the interchange is setting a new standard for inclusive design. From a Starbucks coffee shop to fully accessible toilets and a family room, every detail has been considered to make travel more comfortable and intuitive for all.

At Briteyellow, we’re proud to support this transformation. Our mission has always been to make indoor spaces smarter and more navigable—and our Cardiff Bus Interchange virtual station tour is a shining example of that vision in action. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue working with partners like Transport for Wales to bring intelligent, human-centred mobility solutions to life.

Here’s to the next two million journeys—and beyond.
