We very much enjoyed the opportunity to share our thinking on the power of indoor location applications with visitors, decision makers and other exhibitors at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.

The congress is the biggest smart cities event of the year, and according to organisers Fira de Barcelona the 2016 edition has brought together 600 cities and 16,688 attendees, a huge increase on last year.

Briteyellow was located on the Department for International Trade’s UK Pavilion where we had a high profile platform, the opportunity to meet key decision makers from foreign markets and introduce those influential people to our ground-breaking technological innovation.

Our BriteLocate3D pedestrian smart mobility software-as-a-service platform (SaaS) for Indoor Location and Internet of Things applications fitted perfectly with the UK Pavilion’s focus on key technological interventions for the world’s growing interest in smart cities.

Fredi Nonyelu, Briteyellow’s entrepreneurial founder and chief executive said: “Our leadership in the field of smart mobility has now been recognised in India and in Barcelona in the space of two short weeks.

“BriteLocate3D powers indoor location applications for smart city planners, and operators of high footfall venues such as shopping centres, airports, train stations, hospitals, exhibitions, museums. For example, by the use of heat maps, facilities can see where their customers and visitors are moving or have moved, allowing them to make it easier for people to move around.”

BriteLocate3D-powered applications also provide a personalised virtual guide for people in cities. This could mean the end of the 2D map as people interact more naturally with the images on their smartphone screens than they do with a paper map.

It also gives smart city planners and facility operators a 3D virtual platform to engage and interact with pedestrians (citizens, passenger, or visitors) in new ways.

Briteyellow is experienced and knowledgeable in smart cities, being a part of MK:Smart, a smart city project in Milton Keynes, UK.

Fredi added: “We are on the edge of an explosion in smart city technology, which will transform people’s lives beyond recognition.

Developments such as BriteLocate3D, which helps people navigate in large enclosed areas, have the potential to change the way we live, shop, travel and interact.

“It is inspiring and motivating for Briteyellow to be among more than 500 of the most innovative and influential smart city thinkers in the world.”
