The Future is Brite for Communication in Nigeria
The benefits of wireless VoIP telephony are being spread to two Nigerian cities, Lagos and Abuja, with the launch of Britezone™ wireless hotspots. This is part of a larger rollout of Britezone™ networks in Nigeria and West Africa as the solution to integrating an advanced communication network in a developing country. The provision of wireless broadband will connect previously isolated communities with cheap VoIP internet calls, boost the capability of businesses and encourage economic development.
Briteyellow’s founder, Fredi Nonyelu, was impressed by the enthusiasm with which the project partners embraced launching the Britezones™, “Satellite (VSAT) and wireless services in Nigeria have not always been of a consistent quality and it is the quality of the essential infrastructure that is paramount to providing reliable and fast communication. Our partners in this project have experienced problems in the past and therefore have been extremely keen to build a robust network. They see it as essential to the economic development of their cities and regions as a whole.”
Nigeria’s communication infrastructure suffers from a lack of reliable cabling and inadequate coverage, with many areas excluded from landline access altogether. Briteyellow’s Britezones™ overcome these problems as they remove the need to install expensive wiring and can provide coverage for hundreds of square miles. The Britezones™ will be able to link communities throughout the country with cheap VoIP internet telephone calls and provide a tremendous boost to the responsiveness and productivity of its businesses.
Fredi Nonyelu hailed the Britezones in Lagos and Abuja as “just the start. In the age of technology, communication is inevitably a key component of economic prosperity. The Nigerian commercial sector has embraced this fact wholeheartedly. We hope soon to be announcing Britezones in other cities both in Nigeria and in other regions of West Africa.”
